Simeon Says: Code in the park

Every once in a while I get to go off the grid. Maybe its a hike in the woods to go camping. Maybe its just that my mother-in-laws house doesnt have broadband or wifi. But regardless of the reason sometimes I need to use svn when i am offline. Just because [...]

Subversion Repository Setup Tips

Uncategorized

I have the benifit of having used SVN for a while now. And with everything I like I preach it like the end of days is coming.
I often make suggestions about how folks should set up their repositories and I have blogged about this in the past.
Recently I found a couple good articles on [...]

Community Project Sites Updated

Uncategorized

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will notice that I stress ( shovel on at times) the importance of source control when developing. Along with source control I always advocate the use of Subversion and as a bi-product Trac.
I feel these things are important enough that I volunteered (threatened bodily [...]

Using Subversion with Eclipse

Uncategorized

This is something I have been doing for quite a while so I can attest to how wonderful it is. I seem to always “intend” to write an article that outlines how to set up and get started, but never seem to find time.
Well this morning over on theserverside I found a link to [...]

Subclipse 1.0 RC2 (Version 0.9.104) is Out!

Uncategorized

I had a real adventure earlier this week when I updated to the newest version of Subversion. As it turned out it broke my Subclipse plugin pretty bad and I couldnt get eclipse to open.
Anyhoo it turns out that the subclipse team has had a release out since november that is compatible with the [...]

Eclipse, Subclipse and Subversion 1.3

Uncategorized

Bottom line, dont install subversion 1.3 (new release on 1/6/06) while using subclipse 0.9.3 (current). Doing so will cause eclipse to crash in such a terrible way that it takes down the hole JVM with it. For the full (long and rambling) story please read on.

Installing Subversion on Mac

Uncategorized

I have covered this before on my blog, but I thought it a good idea to post the instructions that apple recommends. The instructions are inteded to get Subversion running on your mac with Xcode, but only the last step has anything to do with Xcode. Otherwise use these to connect with any [...]

Subversion Quck Reference Card

Uncategorized

I dont know about anybody else, but I am a big fan of using Subversion via the CLI. Unfortunatly then I have to actually remember the commands. So I was google-ing something(i thinks I was trying to set properties for svn:ignore) the other day and came across a tiny link to this great SVN [...]

Another neat use for Subversion

Uncategorized

I am sure that many folks out there do this already, but I thought I would share my revelation. Really this applies to any versioning system I imagine, but I am partial to Subversion.
When I was working on a pc, I used the remote site features of dreamweaver alot. If I had a [...]
