I need some new rockin tunes for the gym
I need some help. I have started going to the gym again and I need to have a new workout soundtrack. What music gets you fired up? Makes you wanna dance? Makes you wanna code?
Post your comments here so I can get fired up too

The new LCD Soundsystem album rocks — I can’ tell what they’re syaing hal the time, but I always play it really loud.

for coding, I have mostly old stuff (from home CDs) in iTunes when I need to block out the world, or just want a boost and dare drink no more coffee. Examples in no particular order:
loudest: Soundgarden, Nirvana, Ramones, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, some hiphop / rap, Jane’s Addiction, Audioslave, Zep, Hendrix, Allman Bros, AC/DC, Queens of the Stone Age
british / ska-influenced: The (English) Beat, Ian Dury, ‘Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels’ soundtrack
alt rock: King Crimson, Bozzio/Levin/Stevens, XTC, B52’s, Weezer (are they alt?)
change of pace: James Brown / r&b, Radiohead, Adrian Belew outside King Crimson, Beck, Sigur Ros, Chemical Bros, Frank Zappa
The main thing is that the easily-distracted part of my mind is fully engaged in music I know well (so it ‘backgrounds’), leaving the analytical part free. I don’t work well to new stuff on the radio, jazz, most classical, etc. because I find myself *listening* to it.
None of my exercise these days allows for headphones (e.g. commuting via bike in traffic demands attention!) but when I used to go to the gym, classic rawk’s beat was good.
Find some new tunes that you like…..download KEXP.org’s "Music That Matters" podcast for free and explore. Or, download one of their archived shows, right off the website — I recommend "Shake the Shack" and "Wo’ Pop".
what’s weird is that the link to this post from your homepage is:

which doesn’t work, as the post is from the 11th, and the correct url is:

Here is a pretty decent finetune playlist I created. Let me know what you think.

For coding though, any good electronic tunes without vocals, dub music is great too for coding….
