I am a Gears of War Mercenary
I just finished working my way through campaign mode in Gears of War. I have really enjoyed this game. I always enjoy first person shooter style games but I very rarely finish the campaign portion of them. This games unique 3rd person camera and its emphasis on team play and “cover” system make it a must play.
Now granted I just finished the game on “Casual” mode (read easiest/”you are a sissy simeon” mode) but I did play it all the way through. I am half way through the first act on “Hard Core” which has proven to be much more difficult this far.
If you have a 360 or enjoy FPS games I cant recommend this game enough. Come online we can play together on Live. Add me to your friends list i am “sinMission” on xbox live.

I hate you. I absolutely hate you. How DARE you defeat RAAM and I still can’t get past 5 minutes with him! No more ColdFusion for you! ;)
I definitely agree – I think GOW is probably the best X360 game out there – tied with Oblivion.
I am still stuck on the last level. Can’t defeat RAAM. Help!!
Yeah he is no pushover. But i figured out a system. The trick is I noticed that when the krill are around him I dont see him take any damage. So at times they just fly away for no reason I can tell and then you can shoot him. Otherwise if you hit him with the crossbow thing the krill all fly away, and then you can shoot him good.
Once I figured out that system with the torque-bow it only took like 4 active reloads and he was dead.
Its such amazing timeing. I wanted to finish the game before my wife had our baby. She is due on the 19th and she went into labor this morning. We are just getting ready to head off to the hospital.

Hey Simeon, I picked up Gears of War a few days after it came out – just in time to play with my brother while he came up to visit for Thanksgiving. He and I played it together in campaign mode, and were able to finish it in about 6-8 hours I think. Granted we were in Casual mode, but it was still a great deal of fun, probably one of the most enjoyable campaign games I’ve played on the 360, although it had more to do with being able to play with my brother who I only get to see a few days every year. Im planing on going back through campagin mode on my own at a harder setting. I am a little disappointed with the online Live play. The maps are pretty small, the small #of players on any given team, and if you want to bring a guest, they have to have an xbox live account as well, plus the system for switching/selecting games leaves a lot to be desired compared to other methods for live based gameplay I have seen. Im hoping they improve this a bit, and put out some better maps that might support larger teams and longer games.
To defeat RAAM we finally figured out how the kryll work – when you step into a shadow behind an obstacle for cover is when they leave him to attack you – keep moving and step back into the light once they get close. Keep doing this, and avoid direct melee and hits from RAAM and he is easy to take down. Working together it was even easier, I snuck around the side and went for the troika and we were able to take him down pretty quickly. If you dont have a partner against RAAM and neither of have the torque bow or rifle – forget trying to finish even if your on casual. Youll need one of those unless youve got tons of rounds for the others and can keep away from the kryll long enough while nailing him at the same time, which can be difficult.
i finished this amazing game also, want a real good time- link up with some friends and play it coop on insane mode-sooooooo much fun we are kicking some butt. if you need any help email me. now itll be a challenge to find another fun game like that, i think condemed is my next game.
I have found this guy very annoying but cheers for the help, if anyone wants to give me a game my Gamertag’s Xaero Avenger, feel free to add me, i’m on every now and then and ussualy up for a game.
You can still kill Raam without torque bow.
Make sure you partner is not set on attack, he will get taken out pretty quickly and 9 out of 10 times the idiot will be in the dark so the kryll will kill you pretty quickly.
You wait for the Kryll to leave Raam and then head shot him with the sniper gun, repeat this untill he gets real close, then run down to the otherside of the train.
There you will find more grenades, the grenade will remove the kryll long enough for you to shoot him, do this at a distance and don’t try to shoot him close range, he will cut you to bits in seconds. Keep pluggin at this very frustrating boss and eventually your kill him, patience is more the key than trying to take him out quickly.
Sometimes he get’s stuck so throwing a nade and then shooting him from a distance is easy.

Well I tired again yesterday with a partner 8 Active reloads with a torque bow and not a single one missed then 3 good reloads and one slightly sloppy one, HES STILL STANDING! god this boss guy is annoying.
Yeah i got this game for christmas and i love it, i also recently got Splinter Cell DA and it lasted about three days now GOW has taken me like a week on and off and im now at the end where i have to kill Raam and i just did it while i was typing relatively easy actually just use the torque bow,then sniper and when he gets close throw grenades when the kryll are flying away
I gave up. There’s only so many times I can cope with trying the same damned bit over and over again!!!! I read all the forums and how to do it and I just cannot take Raam down. I had more fun when I had to have a filling done at the dentist and the anaesthetic didn’t work. I’m defeated. I give up :-(
