Model-Glue From the mouth of the man!

Last night the Portland ColdFusion User Group had the opportunity to be joined (via breeze) my Joe Rinehart. Joe took some time to present on us on the framework he created called Model-Glue.

I can’t speak highly enough of this presentation! Joe did an amazing job of layout out some of the challenges presented to us developers in our work, and how we can use Model-Glue (and other frameworks) to over come them.

And in a suprise for the whole group, the second half of the presentation was on Model-Glue 2.0 - Unity. Joe has done some amazing work in helping developers do their job better and faster. It was a great presentation and I am better for having watched it.

What’s That? You want to be better for having watched it? Oh, well…. um… Ok, i guess. Luckily for you I recorded it :) Check it out here:

Thank you sooo much Joe! You Rock.

Afae Gets Model-Glue Support

After My previous post I was talking with Rob about Afae I noticed that although it had fusebox and mach-ii support, Model-Glue was lacking. His response was that he didnt have the dtd handy. :) Well I felt inclined to help with that and I got him a copy.

Not 2 days later Afae has been updated to include support for Model-Glue. If ever there was a reason to buy him something nice, I think now is the time :)

Up next? ColdSpring and Reactor :)

AFAE - Eclipse Editor For Everything Else

I am not sure when it happened but the amazing Rob Rohan has released AFAE his All-Purpose editor for eclipse for FREE. About the only files it doesnt have support for are CF files because (he the father of CFEclipse) there are already projects for that.

So if you were looking for a plugin to edit your Fusebox, Html, or js files (or any of these, now you have an option. Take a look and remember if you like it send rob something nice from his wishlist. Like this for instance :)

Thanks Rob!

CF Mystic Install Notes

I just want to post this link in a highly visible space. It seems some folks are having problems with the Mystic Beta 3 installer. The Adobe folks have done a great job of outlining the steps required for installation on many platforms. Check them out here:

Installing ColdFusion Flex Connectivity Beta 3

Something important to note that has come up in a couple emails, is that cf running on JRun is not always the same as a multi-server cf install. So check out the instructions for the install that matches your setup.

Giant Thanks To the CF Team

I just saw this post over on Damon Cooper’s site, and I have to say I am very impressed with the updates for CF Mystic Beta 3! And there are Many Many of them. Make sure you check his blog for the list.

One thing I really want to pull out here, is that the CF team has said on several occasions that they want CF to be the choice platform for Flex 2.0 developers and with the wizards and plugins they have developed for us, I cant see how you could choose any other platform. Take a look at his post and go get the updates for flex 2.0 beta 3 and the CF Mystic updates.

Flex 2.0 Beta 3 is Available

Its True! Beta 3 is up on labs. Flex Builder is still a Windows only product, but all the other downloads ( SDK, Charting, FDS, and Flash 9) all have Mac OS Downloads.

Not only that, but the wonderful CF team have made a CF Mystic update for the Mac! Thanks to all the CF team for that wonderful suprise, because it means I dont have to spend the next hour trying to get it working so I can play with the Beta 3 SDK! :)
