XBox 360 for the Bargain Price of $3350?
I read a while back that Microsoft was planning to limit the units it was sending to stores to create demand for the XBox 360. I am not a microsoft fan, but I try to be fair, so I assumed this was a un-true. However I decided to test this theory this morning and I called a bunch of the local stores here in portland. The consensus? Most stores reveiced 5-10 units. 5-10! I saw on the news that there were dozens of stores with 100’s of people lined up out front. I am a bit amazed.
So I guess the pro-order folks are the lucky ones. Except it seems many of them are not getting theirs either.
But one way or another the demand is there. On ebay this morning I watched 3 360’s sell for $3350, $3050 and $3500. I thought for sure it was a joke but they keep going up there. And its lots of bidders, not just a couple driving up the price. I have to say I am amazed.
I know this happens everytime a new console comes out, but I can barely understand someone paying over $3000 for a console. I just cant put those thoughts together? Would you pay that?

Here’s one <http://cgi.ebay.com/Xbox-360-Premium-2-GAMES-No-Pre-sale-Actual-Item-NR_W0QQitemZ8235438557QQcategoryZ62054QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem> which is going for $5,300 with 26 minutes to go…
Unreal!
Gotta do SOMETHING when you’re burnt out from coding. Since you can’t spend 3k on herbs to get your brain un-burnt out, best thing to do is splurge on a 360.
Would I pay mad bling? Sure… but I’ve still go soo many other games for my old XBox & PS2 to keep me busy until stores get more units.
A big factor in the number of availabel units was teh fact that MS planned to do a global launcg within months (if not, weeks) of teh initial US launch. As a result, there were a lot less units available here. On a side note, after teh first few days on sale in Japan, over 60% of teh units remained un-sold. So much for that plan.
